World Health Organization Issues Concern Over Severe Shortage of Weight-Loss Jabs

Even under the present most optimistic outlook, the production of such drugs would only suffice for around 100 million people – under 10% of eligible patients, as stated by the health organization.

The guideline urges governments and firms to increase access, via strategies including licensing agreements.

A patent on semaglutide – the core ingredient of a leading brand – is due to expire in a number of countries in 2026.
